This product is a model of C57 class Unit 11 pulling the "Kamome", equipped with the Montetsu style deflector decorated with wings and wave patterns.
The C57 class was a steam locomotive for passenger of which were built from 1937 until 1947.
The combination of the slender boiler and the large driving wheels created a neat impression.
Unit 11 was inaugurated on September 29, 1937, at the Kisha Seizo Company Osaka industry.
After being transferred to the Ogun, Itosaki, and Hiroshima sections for about five years, it was moved to Kyushu in January 1943, where it was assigned to the Mojiko-port Depot after being transferred to the Moji Depot.
After WWII, "Kamome" was the third express to be revived. It was also the first express train connecting Kansai and Kyushu.
Unit 11 pulled the first train bound for Moji from Hakata on March 15, 1953. At this time, the pulling of "Kamome" trains in Kyushu were only Unit 11 along with its colleagues Unit 10 and Unit 12.
In February of 1954, when Unit 11 entered the Kokura Depot, its deflector was replaced with a K-7 type, called Montetsu style, decorated with wings and a wave pattern. So the "Kamome" was special at that time.
