Equipped with the Quantum System, this model can produce sound even when operated with a non-digital power supply controller.
The 15th batch, equipped with cold-resistant features such as snow plows, whistle covers, and defrosters, was deployed in Takasaki, Nagaoka, and East Niigata, and serves as the prototype.
The roof is painted black (from entering Omiya Works), and the pantograph is the lightweight PS15 model, with an LA15 lightning arrester installed.
The latest style features H-rubber-supported windows from the time of manufacturing on the front, the three central sections on the sides, and the central monitor.
Included number plates: 163, 165, 191

The EF15 type DC electric locomotive, designed to meet post-war freight transport demands, saw 202 units built between 1947 and 1958.
Sharing components with the EF58 passenger locomotive, it featured MT41 or MT42 traction motors and LT129 bogies.
Variations arose due to multiple manufacturers and later modifications, such as sealed beam headlights and window designs.
Initially deployed on major lines like Tokaido and Tohoku, steep gradients on the Ou and Joetsu lines led to 24 units being converted into the EF16 type.
The EF15’s operations declined with the introduction of newer locomotives, ending in 1986.
Unit No.158 remains preserved by JR West.
