The EF10 class was Japan's first F-class electric locomotive, and the most number of its kind made before the WWII.
The early models closely resembled the EF53 in design, characterized by their angular appearance.
Originally designed as freight locomotives, they were also used to haul passenger trains on gradient lines.
Due to their light axle weight, they were also suitable for use on local lines.
