This product is a model of C57 class Unit 11 equipped with a smoke refuser and fuel oil tank.
The C57 class was a steam locomotive for passenger of which were built from 1937 until 1947.
The combination of the slender boiler and the large driving wheels created a neat impression.
Unit 11 was inaugurated on September 29, 1937, at the Kisha Seizo Company Osaka industry.
After being transferred to the Ogun, Itosaki, and Hiroshima sections for about five years, it was moved to Kyushu in January 1943, where it was assigned to the Mojiko-port Depot after being transferred to the Moji Depot.
In November 1956, the locomotive left Kyushu, where it had spent more than 10 years, and moved to Yonago Depot in San-in region. At this time, the decoration was removed, but the Montetsu deflector were still in place.
In 1958, it was lent to Toyooka and then moved to Fukuchiyama, where it continued its service on the Fukuchiyama and Bantan Lines. During this period, it was equipped with a fuel oil tank, and in 1967, it was also equipped with a Takatori style smoke refuser.
This was the only C57 in the San-in region with a Montetsu style deflector, smoke refuser, and fuel oil tank, and it was a rare feature that attracted the attention of many fans.
In November 1972, Unit 11 was retired. It was last assigned to the Fukuchiyama Depot. After that, it has been statically preserved in Chuo Park in Toyooka City.
